Default Vermillion bay wind conditions

When is there ever a south west wind in vermillion bay? Seems like the reason we get east winds majority of the time is bc of the way the jet stream is and the weather on the east coast? What do you guys think

Should be named East wind Bay.

east wind blows the dirty water in. that west wind was nice.

i agree with the jet stream theory.

The only time it really blows from that direction is when a front is coming and everything is shifting from SE to N, now and then it will hang for a few days then go to a northern wind.... It's rare, but if you see it you better hook the boat up and get outside the pass.

You'll catch at the outside reefs when those stars align even if the river is high.

we do get a lot of east winds, but the Jetstream blows from west to east, so it actually ushers in west winds.

Not exactly. That jet stream is highly aloft so it carries the storm fronts west to east also. Inflow towards the storms create the east winds a lot. And most fronts don't dip too far south so as the storms pass north of us the winds shift to southerly winds as well.

But it works out because in the fall we all welcome those east winds to fish the cove and weeks bay!

Check this site out. looks like there is influence from the Atlantic winds coming from Africa.

It seems to me that once summer sets in and the temp gets hotter the winds do actually become predominately Westerly. This is only from memory, but seems like once they calm down the wind direction is W to SW.

I believe you are absolutely right, my brain was locked on the time of year we pray for it though...
