prop hub replacement help

I need a hub replaced in my prop and im trying to find something near the kenner Metairie area that does this work.

I assume hub replacement is not something for the regular guy to do in his garage and my hub is the pressed in type.

I see some hubs are the removable type but i think you need a prop designed for such hubs don't you?

if it is something I can do myself please enlighten me as to the process

anyway I need to go from a 13 spline Suzuki hub to a 13 spline tohatsu hub

also what is the average cost to rehub a prop?

Cost is around 60 bucks. I'm not from ur area tho so I have no recommendations

I guess they don't have much demand for such things so opinions are scarce

Some prop hubs you can change yourself. It all depends on what kind of hub you have. If Its Rubber Then You Will Need To Go To A Shop, they have to be pressed in I think.

If it's plastic you should be able to do it yourself

I'm not in your area, but google "Prop shops" in your area. Most of them can do it.

I found one but an address search shows its a vacant empty grass covered lot in a run down area and no buildings around within a block of that address

The only place I know is Bent Marine on Airline Drive. I stop-in and talk to those guys all the time and buy parts from them just as often. I do all my own work, but I know from talking to them, they're good to go. It would be a place to at least stop and check with them and see what they will charge you, and how long the wait will be.

yep, Bents is where I was going to call (not too many other boat dealers left in Metairie Kenner area anymore). they are where I go when I need something but I can do almost everything myself so I mainly use em just for parts.

Duvic's in Harvey can send it off for me but im trying to cut out the middle man and go straight to the source to save money and time

I called bents and they do it in house but charge the standard $100 hour labor rate so it was $100 but that includes the hub.

I called a couple other dealers and they both said they send the props out to have it done and it would cost $60, then I asked who the guy was that does it for them and he told me it was Prescission Propeller Services in Metairie so I called them directly and he said he only charges $30 to do it.

so I cut out the middle man and brought my prop straight to Prescission Friday evening and I picked it up this morning, total cost was $32.63

I suspect the guy tboy mentioned would be about the same.

just goes to show if your dealer needs to send anything out for it to be done, if you ask questions you can cut out the middle man and save a lot of money sometimes.
