Default East zone 1st split

Hunting in my spots has been dismal. A few woodies so far. Lack of water has made hunting difficult. The woodies have been unusually unpredictable this year. I was seeing 75-150 birds a night in October;last night I counted 6 total. Low water has concentrated the birds and pressure from roost shooters on a bayou has driven them out. Oh well, I'm still hopeful for the second split. The next couple rains we get should really improve things. Word is that hunters on lakes in the area have been murdering them. Same goes for deep holes in the basin. The further east the better I hear. I've seen quite a few ducks around some of the flooded crawfish ponds in the parish. During a normal year these aren't too productive but they are getting their share of birds this year. Green wings, greys, mallards, spoonies(in crawfish ponds), and ringnecks is what I've been seeing. Excellent numbers of geese flying high, mostly blues. Good luck second split and do a rain dance if you get a minute.
