Default Dularge Inshore Redfishing 9-23-14

It was a brisk departure this morning from the Reel Inn Dularge bringing Marvin and Phyllis Travasos to the honey hole. Fresh crab chilled in the cooler ready to be eaten by the reds we hoped to find. I got my hopes up high when the first red of the day doubled over Marvin's rod and sent the spool into a screaming tornado within seconds. This was Marvin's birthday present to Phyllis and he razzed on her a bit while he reeled in the stout bronzeback. Not to be outdone, Phyliss quickly retaliated with her first keeper. It was a quick start in the 20 ft hole but soon the tide faded and we were off to virgin ground. I decided to try a spot I never fished before and it paid off right away. With shrimp under a cork the couple got to work on the shallow bank near a runout from the interior marsh draining into one of Dularge's most famous lakes. Once again spools went to screaming as they had the reds in a frenzy. They polished off their limit with a couple bonus fish to end the day! Big smiles and lots of laughs today as the couple had a great time experiencing our precious fishery. Big thanks to Capt. Marty Lacoste for setting up the trip
