Default My son's first "reawwl" fishing trip!

Well, I'd been sitting around and wondering what to do so, since my lil boy went and "helped" me change out the impeller on my little boat Friday, I figured it was only fair that we go test it out together. Keep in mind, he's only ever been in a boat once before and, that was with the whole family in tow. Well, he was excited!!!!

We launched at the Belle River public launch and went cruising through the grounds that I spent many days crawfishing before. I must say it was nice not having to worry about pogey slime getting all over the boat this time around! With that getting boring to him since alligators didn't really want to show themselves, we decided to run back to the truck and grab a fishing pole. I didn't really have a bream setup at all but, we made due and caught several with our limited tackle that I found in dry storage. Man, this kid was bouncing all over the place and, the last two we caught were sizable and, he REFUSED!!! to turn em loose! He said, "we taking them home! We gonna eat that!"

Well, blue and white tube jigs caught em in the grass where there was clean water. Good thing they liked that because, that's all I had!

Great trip for me and him! While there weren't 300 fish laid out on the table, it, to me was a "trip of a lifetime!"

That's what in talking about. I rather see 100 reports like this than of a table full of fish. I know he enjoyed it, my kids were the someway with a choupique on a limb line, had to have it!!

thats great, I often take my microlite rod out with some little 2in grubs and try to catch some brim, but I often get caught up catching bass instead.

I'm game and he is too! He's already talkin about next weekend and where we're going and what "he's" gonna catch.

By far, one of the best days I've ever had with my son! I'm a proud man right now!

That's awesome. Great post. It's one of my favorite things. Taking a kid fishing or hunting and watch the joy in their face.
