Default Offshore Trolling Speeds

After reading some comments on another thread, I was curious on trolling speeds. I pull plastics and king plugs at 6-7mph. I normally run 9-10mph for wahoo.

I have caught dolphin on wahoo lures at that speed, and I pull even faster (11-12mph) if the tuna are busting.

Just curious what works for others.

Yeah we are anywhere from 6-9 knots for everything too....tuna, mahi, wahoo, and marlin.

They do make hi speed lures for fast trolling, but you don't really need em here in the GOM IMHO, unless you want to troll while you cruise open water. Slow em down around the rigs and don't get too close unless you want to deal with cuda's.

Yeah but sometimes you have to deal with them because the tuna get up tight against the platforms sometimes
