Default Beach this weekend

First off i want to say hello, I've been lurking for a while. I have learned alot from y'all and have been fishing little fla. Beach for a couple years now. Thanks to Alot of people willing to share info. I have been catching some nice reds. Not like other forums I've seen. Looking to make a run down to little fla. Or maes beach for a quick day trip. Just wondering how the beach is, last trip was a total bust with all the weed, we are coming from Shreveport and thinking about running down maes beach a little ways. Looking for sharks and bull reds. Will be in a black dodge witha salt life sticker on the back window, although been thinkin bout taking it off lol. Stop by and say hi and have a beer with us. Will post up a report when we i get back home. Gonna try to post some pics from past trips.

We'll be just east of ya between holly beach and cameron. Our last trip was a bust too. Maybe this go around will be better for us both. We'll be driving down from Alexandria. John

Got down to Mae's beach around 6, ran as far down as we could, set up camp baited some lines. Ended up with a 50"bull shark 43" bull red and a 30" red. Will try to figure out how to post pics and leave a report when i get back home.

Nice. Would you mind sharing how you caught the shark (what bait and how far out)? My children are getting into sharks a bit. We've caught a few black tips, but nothing so big and no bull sharks.

Hardbeads do serve a purpose! Last night was caught on a 12"to mullet, just released a 60"blacktip caught on live hardhead hooked through the tail with a 18/0 circle. Kayaked out about 250 yrds.

Do you not like shark meat? Just curious why you released the black tip. 60" is a legal fish. Is kinda hard to ice down a 60" fish for the trip back home. I'd have been grillin that baby. To each his own. Glad y'all had a good day

I had the same thing happen to me not long before Labor Day. The shark got teeth hung up in the leader so I at least got fight him for a few minutes before he got off. The biggest gaff I hooked that day to boot.
