John Dongieux and his wife joined me today from Mississippi. We were greeted with calm seas and clean water. With only five fish iced down in the K2, a storm kicked up. We had to make a decision on where to run! Turns out we made the right call. Seas kicked up and got ugly but we skirted around the storm. After arriving at our location, John caught a trout. It was game on afterwards!!! The fish went into a frenzy and we started catching them two at a time every cast. Double rigged Matrix Shad in every color we threw worked. Some of the fish hit as soon as the baits hit the water, while others hit within seconds of drifting. When the dust settled at 8:50 the K2 was stuffed. We left the fish biting to look for reds. Arriving at the red honey hole, the conditions were perfect. We had two reds jump into the K2 on back to back cast, we thought it was on. Not so, as that was all to be had. Got a call from Capt Anthony Kyzar (thanks) saying he was on a hot bite. We ran over to him, but missed the bite. We tried one more area then called it quits. Today's trout bite was probably the best bite I've seen this summer!! Thanks again John.
