Default Westside Marina

What would your opinion be on having a Marina similar to Cal . Pt. on the west side of the Lake? Live Bait, Grill, cold Beer, landing, Boat stalls/lifts for rent, etc. Plenty of room to dock up, clean Fish, and hang out in the shade!

Spicers is the only one on my side, but you lose a hour running the gauntlet , no wake areas, etc. only to find they are OUT of what you need!

Its a good idea, but it would probably need to be seasonal to make money.

Spicers has a nice launch and live shrimp but that's it. They are really missing out in not offering other things. But I'm sure they make plenty money as it is. Would be nice to have a CP type facility on our side.

The Ellender's launch would be a good place for it. It would probably have to be built with public dollars for it to have a chance.

Yes. 8 month window to make your $$ on Bait/Fisherman. Play cards on the dock the other 4 months.

Cater to the duck hunters during season. A Cajun fast mart type store on the water would be the ticket!

Somewhere to buy gas on the water would be cool in my opinion. I don't know the rules about all that but I know they do it other places.

Spicers is nice indeed and has pretty much what your asking for in a marina. It isn't as nice as CP but it wasn't built by the state either.

Honestly I would just like to see more gas on the water. I asked a long time ago about gas at CP. The ladies said the gas line was installed along with the road but the Epa said the ground was to soft and wouldn't let them install pumps from the line. I would think you could bring in a portable tanker truck in a dyke system and pump it above ground. Would make a freakin killing!!!!

Lodging is a must. Go on the internet and try to find a rental during Mar - November. The motel rooms at Spicer's are a cash cow.

i think it would be a good idea. boat lifts would be nice. my place is not on the water and i've "been on the list" at spicers for a long time. also a grill would be nice. the only place i know of to get a hot meal after fishing is at the rec center. it would be nice to eat at the marina.

Keep your eyes open. That is exactly what I hear is coming to the west side. Wouldn't it be nice to swipe your credit card in a pump 24/7 to get gas on the water? How about pulling in at lunch and ordering a meal. Have a good place to park a boat while you enjoy a beer with friends... I can't wait.
