I wondered when the croaker frenzy would start in S La. Being from the Lower Laguna Madre, they have been using croaker for quite awhile now. I think because fishing is harder there than La. However, I have used croaker on BL in the past but did not see that I caught any more fish than with live shrimp. Since I have moved from live shrimp to plastics, I can't imagine paying for croakers. Not that anything is wrong with it but rarely necessary. They do however stay on the hook better and live longer while on the hook. Now catch you a few 12-14 inch croakers and fry them up, not much any better than that. When I was a kid, my Dad targeted 2 species, flounder and croaker. I had him on BL a couple years ago trying to give him one last flounder trip to remember but we fell short. He died past December. It's his fault all I think about is fishing, I am thankful for it.
