Default Big Lake weird

I have a question about Big Lake. I'm kinda new to this. And I'm just learning Big Lake. I fish there about once a month. First time there was Nov 2015. I always look at the weather forecast before I go. The one's that show weather conditions hour by hour in advance. Where you can see the rain percentages and wind speed and direction from 1am to 8pm.
Why is it that the weather forecast will show S or SSE winds at 3 mph in the am picking up to lets say 6 mph by noon(which doesn't seem bad) and when I get there....... it's too rough to fish in a bass boat.

Wind is always measured with sustained winds, the gust are not posted so 5mph wind with 10-15 gust will make the water rough.

i use a weather forecast and then Windfiner.com. I usually split the difference between the two forecasts. Windfinder is almost always on the high end.

Like you I'm relatively new to fishing big lake and asked similar questions. I was pointed to these two sites and they do help.
