Default report for Grand chenier and cameron

Has anyone been fishing the mermentau river area? Joseph harbor? Cameron jetties? looking to go down there this weekend.

Also I fished the lil Alabama sunday afternoon and did pretty well. Cought 19 bass in about 4 hours. they were small but they were fun

I would think the mermentau has been too muddy.

I'd check out big lake

Was at father-n-laws house this past weekend and he lives on the river. Don't waste your time going there river is muddy as all get up. And no ones been catching anything at the refuge or jetties. Go to big lake

Mermentau is never too muddy if you use live finger mullet or cracked crabs. Someone I know fishes there almost every weekend off the bank and always limits out on reds and crabs.

I live in Grand Chenier, when I left on March 28th it was crap lots of Freshwater, catch all the Catfish you want, with the Spring incoming tides it should start to clear with good Salty water and the Redfish should start showing at the bridge and the upper end of the River Basin. Generally April should be the start to the goood fishing on the River.

thanks for the update on the river. I love to fish the Mermentau. I have had only a few not so good trips out there.
