Default 24 volt hookup.

Alright guys so the other day when me and the wife were out in our new to us Javelin, the starting battery died on us from the fish finder, radio and live well running all at once for a pretty extended amount of time. So I disconnected the battery from the trolling motor since it was hooked up 24 volts and got back home. Meanwhile when I went to go hook them back up I was a little confused. So....

I have a motorguide Brute with 4 wires coming from the female up front. It has a 12/24v switch on the foot control. I have 4 wires going to the back to the batteries. I'm a little confused as to how they were hooked up as I should have taken a pic of it to begin with. I know One battery is hooked up 12v and that's what I went ahead and hooked them up as in 12v series. Doesn't have enough umph to get home or at least started back home in 12v and can't keep up with the wind. How do I hook these up?

Strap ur batteries together with 1 cable, positive from battery 1 to neg of battery 2. Then from ur trolling motor hook the positive wire to positive of battery 2 and hook negative wire to neg of battery 1
