Default Crowley Waterfowl meeting tonight at 6:00

Just curious if any of you are going? I will probably be there, but a little late. Would be neat to meet some of the salty cajun members.

I am interested to see Larry Reynolds Trend analysis of hunters/birds harvested over the last few years.

He said less and less geese are wintering here as well as mallards which we all know. Meeting was good and very informative.

Larry did say that the state has recommended 6 teal for teal season. The Feds will vote on this in June.

What else did they talk about? I wanted to go to the meeting just didn't have time. Did they talk about all the grass problems in the marsh. And what they are going to do about the problem.

Default meeting

Good to see you Chris, hopefully we can split some hunts again. I still got flooded timber for woodies and trying to fix up fields for geese. Man can't wait for that squealer season in October . Hope we get the 6 teal for sept and should have a couple ponds ready for Sept teal. Man it would be nice to get a marsh lease again but I am shifting fast to deer and turkey. See you in Sept.

Did they say anything about working woodies into a teal season limit?

If they up the limit to 6 birds for teal season that would be GREAT....but I doubt it will happen.

Nothing about Speck limits. Nothing on wood ducks during teal season. They mentioned doing more research on whistling ducks.

Mottle ducks will remain at 1 based on population and harvest data.

He seemed pretty optimistic about the Teal limit, but the Feds are not exactly friends of the Bayou State right now with the Snapper war going on.

Default woodies in teal

If we get woodies in teal season the number of days would drop significantly. Main concern by feds is large duck kill during teal season. I don't think many people want to lose days for woody in the bag limit.

I would rather add 2 squealers in teal season than have 6 teal.

Squealer season in October, that would be cool. The rice farmers would probably welcome that. I have heard that they have to kill tons of them just to protect their crop. 6 teal, that would be great too.
