Default Electrical plug question 220

I have a new dryer and it has 4 prongs on the plug.the outlet on my wall is 3 prong set up.
Is there a difference between a 4 prong dryer plug and a 3 prong plug. Besides the number of prongs And is it hard to switch out the wall outlet?

A lot easier to change the plug on the back of the dryer. Usually only takes a few minutes to do so and you can buy the new dryer cord at Walmart, lowes, stines, homedeot etc.

only difference is the 4 prong has a dedicated ground prong as the 3 prong shares a common/ground.
