Alarm came awfully early this am. Closing my eyes for a few seconds turned into 40 min. Nevertheless, got lines in water around 6:45 with Dad.
First stop full full full if bait. Mullet of small and medium size and some shrimp popping. Fish were only scattered and seemed to be roaming. Got on a few flurries and boxed 19 from 12-20.
Hit the first flock of birds of summer for a few dinks. Second spot again had to s of bait with some pogies mixed in. Two drifts produced a nice but brief bite. Just choppy enough that the power pole scared them off with the hull slap. Spot three nada, spot four looked good but only two nice ones.
Back to spot one at 10:30 and first cast tagged a 19. Bait still around but not as thick. Pops was getting antsy, so didn't get to examine the situation thoroughly. But did box a half dozen before heading north.
First spot

Good incoming tide all morning, nice trout green water with some dirty water tide lines. Fish just weren't stacked up and holding on anything. All fish except the very first one caught on bayou chubs, almost all purple/chart and 1/4 oz jigheads. Threw a mirrodine with high sun to nothing. Got a topwater fish second cast, then four casts with nothing and picked up the jig.
Beautiful morning but 94 degrees at 11:00. Box shot on the way home. No total count, estimate 30 or so.
