Man, those thing STINK when they are small. Ate plenty of alligator gar, don't know if I ever ate any needle nose though. They don't get real big. Have seen them a couple feet long.

there are longnose gar people call needlenose gar



the big 'needlefish' you see offshore are often houndfish, same family

Ha! We've seen 'em swimming a couple of times. Never caught one.

Had a couple gar close to the net last year, but they came unbuttoned. We'll try 'em if we can catch one. Looking for hints on jugging techniques at Henderson to improve our freshwater success.
