Default Effects of Oil Spill Study

One of the first studies to come out about the effects of the oil spill (don't shoot the messenger). Killifish = Cocahoe Minnow

These essential fish just like our marshes are very resilient. Not all oil spill research shows that its the end of the world. As a member of a similar project at LSU I can say that these people aren't out to end drilling or blame all oilfield work just because of what happened. Researchers just want to know what kind of effects are happening to our coast and its creatures. Some of the same people who are doing this kind of research at LSU are also trying to create a commercial aquaculture market for these same fish.

At least read the article before you bash it.

It was a great study it seems, not biased in anyway either, unlike many of the studies that come out on climate change

There's also microbes that can process that oil, but when they're used to processing drops per gallons on a typical basis and you give them a dump truck load its kinda hard to catch up. If you seriously don't think that oil does anything to water or water quality, go put crude oil into your water and we'll see how long you last. The scientists aren't out to kill the oil industry. Most of them drive cars too. Just because you are a scientist doesn't make you some earth loving, hug a tree hippy that doesn't want oil.

Do you ever stop and listen to yourself every once in a while? If you did. You'd probably realize that every orifice in your body spews ignorance.

its just one little study about cocahoe minnows, dang "w", just read the thing, shouldn't take you that long only a page or so

You are correct, oil seeps up all the time, and there is bacteria that CAN process oil. They also process other materials, they would not last very long if all they did was eat oil, because there is not enough of it seeping out every single day. The bacteria can not consume all that oil that was leaked, there just isn't enough of them to do that. Do you really think there are an unlimited supply of oil-eating bacteria just out there starving to death waiting around for some oil to spill.

Oil is good by the way

Platforms lost during hurricanes? it doesn't matter, they are capped

Point is it is a very big ocean, the gulf can handle small spills, and we will recover from this one BUT it ain't over "W", remove your head from...

Its Over!!!! And the gulf has 100000000000Xs the bacteria to eat what came off that spill...only thing that died was a few stupid birds....and if you killed every signal bird on the gulf coast 5 miles wide ...you would wake up the next day and never notice
