The higher class shimanos love them. Fresh to shallow salt. No problems yet.

I just ordered a Penn Fierce 4000, which is cheaper version of the Battle 2. I didn't want to spend a whole lot on a spin cast reel since I don't use them much. I prefer bait casters but wanted to try something different, to use on windy days, and for when less experienced people are fishing with me who cant cast a bait caster. I did spend more money on the rod, which is a Fenwick HMX 7ft medium fast taper. We'll see how it goes.

I like the shimano Sedona's, think they are $65. They last a few years then you have to replace. I also bought whatever is one under the Sedona, and its on its 2nd year. I don't fish with spinning gear much, so I never spend much on them. They are mainly used for when I have a new guy with me, and he doesn't have any tackle.

I recently bought a Penn Spinfisher 3500 and a Shimano Stradic FJ 3000. The Shimano was smoother hands down and looks great. A friend gave me a Shimano Symetere, another smooth and nice reel but I like even numbers so I said let's buy one more setup and make it 4. Gave Quantum a shot with their new Energy reel, but the finish was nowhere near what you would expect for a $140+ reel, so I made the trip to Puglia's and bought another Shimano Stradic FJ on sale.

Yep on the Okumas (2 Epixor 3000 series). They get dunked in the surf a lot. Had mine for about 7 years. Shimano reels not bad either.
