Lacassine NWR and Sabine NWR are the only ones I personally know of with openings. If some one knows about one that is worth spending money on they are not going to advertise, they will front the money and hunt. Classified hunting property is really not all that classified.

Call Mr. Eddie Benoit at Cameron Parish School Board. He is the land manager. The school board bids out several tracts of land every august. They usually have 5-6 leases available. Some are dang good while others really suck. Be prepared to pay top dollar for the good ones -- One well known local hunting/fishing outfitter paid $30,000 per year for a section in Cameron Meadows. And I paid $25,000 per year for a section off of Black Bayou West of Hackberry in 2000-2003. But I have seen some good leases go for $12-$15K as well. Just depends on who needs a lease that year and what they are willing to pay. Some leases require you to pay access fees to private landowners who's land you have to cross in order to access the School Board property. This could add $500 to $2000 extra so keep that in mind. The lease we had in Hackberry we had to pay $1500 PER vehicle to cross Mr. Odom's land. One year I paid $500 to cross FINA oil land north of Holly Beach.

I believe Vermillion parish does this as well as Jeff Davis Parish.

Better call him soon because the bidding is usually the first or second monday in august. If you find out the section numbers I may know where they are located so let me know what you find out.
