Default Big Lake 12/19/2009

Me and my brother in law hit Big Lake at sun rise. We knew it was too fresh
and too muddy for Trout, so we potlicked Adamsfence's hole again.
Got 10 nice Reds in about an hour. Biggest one hit on the first cast.
The rest were hitting but not as fast as yesterday. The last 3 hit back to
back. The bite was just starting as we were finishing up our limit.

I bought my brother in law a new Stix rod with a new Shimano reel on it for
Christmas. He out did me, he got me a 48 qt. Yeti cooler.

Water temps were 48 to 49 on the edges of the lake and 51 in the middle.
Water was a couple ft. lower than yesterday, hopefully this will get some
salt water back in to Big Lake. Winds were around 10 to 15 and air temps
were 46 when we launched.
We found a few PVC pipe tips barely sticking out of the water. We dragged
a rod across the area around them and found some reefs I didn't know
about. I also found a big limestone hump sticking out the water.

My brother in law and his family were at the Pete's party last month also.

We ran into Longcast and Gottago from Salty Cajun. Nice to meet up with
you guys at the launch.

Oh, my brother in law got a bum knee and I gotta bad back. This was the
best we could do to imitate the "Salty Cajun Squat".

Don't remind me about yard work. I decided to park the boat in the back yard cause
of all the people coming over for lunch today. Big mistake. I put ruts all over the place.

I will be in the dog house till 2012 for that.

It shows the water temps on the bottom left. The blue dot is a top secret
set of weirs.

We did try to catch some trout after the reds, but the lake is still screwed up
pretty bad.

We fished with shrimp on lead heads, sitting on the bottom.
The water is so fresh, we caught ZERO hardheads and ZERO Gafftop.
Just sitting the bait on bottom and wait for the Reds to smell it and
pick it up.
The birds are hitting the shrimp, but they are not big.

Tried to get there today - lock pin in the trailer hub broke and caused the bearings to go out - almost lost a tire. Now I can not find the bearings or seals. So I will stay here and read how you all did!!!!!!!!!!!
