Default Merc Issue

Took my boat in last week before I came offshore because it was losing power when you ran wide open..

They said it was my Air Compressor!!! Did not know I had an air compressor on my motor

Can someone explain this?

Air compressor runs the air injectors....the air injectors push air into the fuel injectors and the fuel injectors push fuel into the cylinder.

The only thing that can cause it to go out besides a mechanical failure is overheating. The compressor is water cooled. If you ran in some mud or shell it can get trapped in the compressor and burn it up.

The overheating part if my fault, a four hour tow will do that to you. W is too nice of a guy to let me pay his bill on this but he should.
