Question Question for the kayakers

Me and my wife are taking a guided kayak fishing trip this weekend to see if we like it before buying any kayaks. What type of ice chest do y'all normally put the fish in? or do y'all leave them on a stringer in the water? We'll be red and speck fishing in Choupique Bayou. Thanks in advance.

I am going to be with y'all. I think I met you at the CCA banquet. I think a stringer will be fine where we are. I also have a soft sided chest that straps to the yak. Some kayaks have a big enough rear compartment to fit a regular 45/48 qt. ice chest. Pack n Paddle sells those soft chests.

I never use a stringer during the summer. Fish basket with float on top is fine. Sharks always take your biggest fish off the stringer. But for Choupique, I think you will be ok especially since it's your first trip. Good Luck!
