Default Dularge Trout/Redfish Action

No place like the DU! You know it's good when just about every boater you talk to is catching fish. We knew it would be a very productive fall season and so far our prediction is right on target. The fish are showing up everywhere as the Sister Lake/Mechant estuaries are loaded with reds and lots of trout. Just find some feeding birds and you're in business. Don't be in a hurry to try another location after the birds leave as the fish are still down there and you can usually stay there and load the boat if you do it right. The key to keeping the fish around your boat is to continue casting your lures in the water as fast as you can after catching a fish. As long as you have lures in the water the trout will remain in a frenzy and continue feeding. Today we had an 8 man crew from Australia and they wanted to catch big fish and drink beer. They did plenty of both as the guys enjoyed their best fishing trip of their lives. All catch and release for Capts Gerald Ellender and Travis Lovell. Both boats ripped up the bull reds and the guys couldn't believe the size and big numbers of fish! They will be talking about their trip for a long time. We also smacked the trout today catching a box full in less than 2 hours! Deadeye Chris Lake, Pat Olivier, and Capt Travis joined me for a very enjoyable trout slam. Double rigged LSU chubs did the trick and we'll be whacking them again tomorrow. The trout averaged 14-18in. Pictures will be posted when I get home. Good luck on your next trip.
