Anyone fish one of these?

http://www.quantumfishing.com/prod_pages/EnergyPTs.htm

I needed a throwdown reel and found it on sale at Academy for $99.00

Let me know what ya think if you have experience with it. Seems pretty nice.

Bender, I got a buddy that uses nothing but Quantum 1310MG. Saltwater, freshwater....it doesn't matter. They're probably alot less than the Energy if you're lookin' for a "throw down" reel. They're tough but they don't have a thumb bar....just the button.

I was going to get this reel the other day. It sat funny in my hand, seems like if you would fish all day with it it would bind in the inside part of your hand. I settled on the H2O xpress 49.99 at academy, very smooth and you can cast it a mile. So far very happy with it. Believe it or not would put it up against my new Curado. and you can but 4 for the price of one.

heat23 im a huge fan of the h2o express mettle reels as well. They hold up great in salt water no problems at all. Brother in laws have several of them as well. they are cheap and cast just as well as a $300 reel and even better than most. I let a friend of mine use one and he was a REVO man. he went and bought 4 h20's the next week. Another buddy has left is curados in the closet and switched as well. I went with both of them fishing and was out casting them distance wise and they were impressed when they tried them. BEST thing is keep your reciept and if they break Academy will replace them. Another friend dropped one and stepped on it... bent the handle and spindle beyond repair....replaced no questions asked...cant beat that deal.

Bought one for a backup reel. Great reel. I have since bought a few more. Saw the same deal at Academy and bought 6 more. They are rock solid. They remind me of the old Curados. Anyhow, I fish about 225 days a year and have been using the original since I bought it in Feb. of '08. I have yet to get it cleaned and it is still casting like the day I got it out the box. If it gets a little sticky, shoot some of the Hot Sauce oil on it and it's good to go. Reson they are on sale is that Quantum has chnged that model for next year. Like I said I bought a bunch because I'm scared that the new ones maybe junk, kinda like Shimano did with the Curado when they first changed it. I'd buy all I could afford. They originally sold at Academy for $219.

As far as Mg reels, they are not recommended for use in saltwater, check with the manufacturer. It's a chemistry thing, salt is tough on magnesium.

Hope this helps and go buy the reel. You won't be disappointed.

I bought it before I asked the question!!!!! Was just seeing if anyone had used them. Thanks for the input. I was testing it out that night and trying to get it adjusted and the damn red fish would' not leave my bait alone. I still need to tweak it a little to keep from backlashing.
