![]() I am having a really hard time filling it with gas. I have gone to two different stations to see if that would make a difference but the same issue at both. It takes forever to load fuel to the tune of no more than about 1.5 gallons/minute and that is if I hold the nozzle in just a near vertical position with minimal flow. And even the nozzle shuts off every minute or two. If I just put the filling nozzle in and turn it on then it doesn't even go a minute without shutting off. Any body have this issue with their Blue Wave or suggestions on what to do? With a 78 gallon tank and I really don't feel like standing there for over an hour trying to fill it up? |

Kink in the vent hose might prevent the fuel from flowing freely to the tank.

We have an older blue wave. The V-Bay model. We have the same exact problem. Have to set the nozzle on the lowest notch or else gas will come shooting back out of the hole. Don't know of a solution though.

The newer boats have a carbon canister on the vent line. People have been complaining that the canister restricts the vent and leads to the problems you are having. If the vent lines and fuel lines aren't run with a slope they can also restrict the fuel flow. Can you see the lines? Do they have a low spot that would trap fuel and cause a restriction? I don't know what year the older Blue Wave mentioned is and if it has a carbon canister. Maybe Blue Wave has a design problem in their fuel system.
I looked at a flats boat that had a gas tank mounted under the front deck. The deck was so short the fuel line ran uphill from the gunwale mounted fuel nozzle to the tank inlet. I asked the salseman if they had a problem filling the gas tank. He said I was the first person to ever notice that before buying one. Owners have to disconnect the boat trailer and lower the trailer tongue to get enough slope to fill the tank. Obviously the boat maker didn't care to revise their design. |

I took the boat back to the dealer to have them finish the cover and install a switch and they are looking at the fuel issue. They also mentioned the canister and are looking at that.

I have the same boat same problem 2014 24' pure bay. Only time I have filled it fast was with boat in the water. Otherwise I feel like I can never get the boat full. Was going to look at more in depth during the winter time. Please update solution if you can find one.

I have a 15 24 wave. This is gonna be kinda hard to explain but I was told by my dealer to put the nozzle in opposite of what you normally would. Meaning the hose on the nozzle would be toward the front of the boat. I have not had any problems filling my boat this way. I know this is a very vague explanation but if you have any questions pm me and I will take a picture to explain what I'm talking about.

Cbruno I think I get what you are saying. Turn the nozzle around 180 degrees so that it is curving toward the bow. I will have to try that next time! I will report back with whatever I end up doing.

try rotating the handle so the nozzle is at the same angle as the hose going into the gas tank. Might have to get in the boat to hold it like that. That way the fuel is flowing at the same angle.
If angle is Sightly off, the fuel could be restricting the air flow. Looks awkward but hey might work. Last edited by alphaman; 12-16-2014 at 09:15 PM. |
