Default Fishing With your Tunes?

Whats your opinion on the effect of music playing on your boat while fishing? do you think it runs the fish off? or It dosent effect the fishing?

As long as you don't have woofers bumping I don't think it has any real effect on the fishing.

Just read an article with Greg Hackney on wired2fish saying as long as the bass is turned off it's cool. Most of the time he has music on. But he also said if he's fishing shallow enough he doesn't need his sonar he will turn it off bc he thinks the pings effect them. I don't have a stereo in my boat so I don't really have a choice lol

I don't think it makes a difference. Let common sense be your guide. I haven't put a radio in my boat and I don't think im going to. I just have a Bluetooth wireless speaker paired to Pandora or Iheartradio. I can get some local stations on Iheart so I don't really see a need to install a radio right now.

there is a video I saw in another post that shows just how much fish hear you talking, even in a very low voice from 10 ft away and it was as clear as you hear the guy next to you so they hear things slightly louder through water that's for sure.

here is the link to watch the experiment:

I will leave it up to the individual to decide if the fish like to listen to music or not, personally I think it might help or hurt depending on what fish want that day just like a rattle cork vs non rattle cork.

I think they like it. Start nailing top water almost the instant you turn it on. Classic country of course.

I think it's very clear they can hear it in shallow water. I would never, ever risk that they would be spooked by the sound.

But then again, plenty of smart people (I sometimes and used to fish with) also don't think twice about rattling an anchor chain, putting the trolling motor on high, dragging an ice chest, slamming a storage compartment, stomping their feet to get rid of a horsefly, it goes on and on and on.

Plenty of people wonder why they never catch many fish, too.
