Default Venice

Headed to Venice this morning to take advantage of the low wind forecast, n try to catch some tuna behind the shrimp boats ...ran down river to find pretty calm seas but a good breeze . Was a little worried about the breeze picking up and being that we were in my bay boat we changed plans and decided to try for mangroves , that way we could limp in if needed. Caught a few small mangroves but nothing like usual . Started to see some grass mats come through so we went in search for the bigger patches . Ended up in about 190' of water around some broken grass lines but there was some good patches/ debris . Threw small trout sizes grubs trying to get the chicken dolphin and were able to stick a few . Had 2--3 very nice size dolphin 4+ ft swimming below the boat but they wouldn't commit . Kept picking away at the chicken dolphin and decided to run to east bay to find calmer water because the wind kept picking up . Hit 4-5 platforms in east bay with zero luck except for Spanish mackerel , tons of em ...... Lost enough tackle n decided to run it

Default Mangroves

When the water starts to cool off, so does the mangrove bite. They bite best when it's scorching outside.

Right now the bluefish and spanish are thick in that area. You may have been the only one to find a dolphin this weekend. Nice!
