Default wire leader

i had a store bought leader malfunction Saturday. hooked into something nice and he pulled the leader out of the crimp. so i decided to make my own. i bought 80 pound .018 wire. i have a problem getting a good haywire twist. i can get a nice twist and barrel roll if i put a crimp on before, but just cant seem to get a good one by itself. is it ok to put a crimp on and then do my wire twist?

that'll pull in them hardheads!! lmbo
i tried something like that, but the wire is so thin, its hard to get a good grip on it to make a tight twist. i made one that looks pretty good, i used vise grips to hold the loop and twisted with both hands. i just need to find my fish scale to measure the strength before i waste time making any more.

I usta pass the 'dead" end through the crimp then loop around and pass it through again. Being careful not to crimp the loop it made. With a good tight crimp on the pliers I neva had one slip dat'a'way.
