Or a reaction skinny dipper for trailer. It all depends what they are keying on. Shad spawn or a lot of shad around I'm throwing a white jig if it's spawning time (pre/post /during) I'm gonna throw a darker one.

I had better luck pumping the jig...they would hit it on the fall. I was using a 1/4 oz V&M jig.

Havent bassed fished in several years but now that my boy is older and interested im slowly gearing back up and getting ready. Back when I chased them I always figured if ya dont catch em on a texas rigged worm, spinnerbait, or gold rouge there obviously wasnt any fish in the water.lol. Then one day my buddy handed me my azz flippin a jig. Now that im back to it I will spend some time learning them. Need more topwater time too. I always set the hook to soon when fishing topwater baits.

Would like to switch gears for just a second. Can you still find Norm baits around there? I am in the Marine Corps and have not fished Louisiana waters in about 20 years. I only have two Norm top water wooden baits left and I remember those guys where awesome while fishing the birds in Black Bay during the spring. I am moving back home in a few days and would like to restock my tackle box before spring. Thanks |

I'm a saltwater guy. I have had tremendous success with the Matrix shad (vary colors) so far this year with both specs and redfish

you guys want to have a ball go out with some bass worms to fish specks and reds.
but bring plenty because they will shread them, they must thing its eels or something but they go after it like pirana. only trouble I have is where to put the hook because they steal it after two or three casts and never seam to get hooked except by accident. no lie you miss about 10 strikes before you get a hookset then your 6" worm is about 2" left lol |

tried that and they stole the middle so I put one in front one in middle and one in the tail and I got cleaned out without a hookset and had about 1/2" worm left on each hook.
thems some sneaky little buggers for sure but they do love the bait. I think I shoulda let em run with it but I really didn't want to gut hook em and kill fish I wasn't keeping. a went with one pack of 6" worms and they were gone in less then ten minutes so I didn't get much chance to learn and adjust. I tried them at the wd40 rigs offshore and they never hit bottom but a got a few line strippers before they broke off. again that trip I got nothing in the box as a result but they definitely went after em like crazy and I did catch two small snapper I released I been wanting to try learning to use them in a productive way but im so used to my normal baits I don't get around to it because im always waiting until I have my limit before I start "playing around" and by then its time to head in. once I restock the freezer I can play around with it some more |
