What you fishing with ??? poppers???? If so use weight forward floating line and don't skimp...I use a weight forward floating 7 with 14# mono leader...Throws bass or perch bugs with ease...Also rod makes a big difference...Bout an 80-100 $ rod from cabela's or bass pro is all needed around la....Makes a difference than a wal-mart special...

I have a browning rod--dont know what reel. Have 2 spools. (1) reel has 6 weight forward floating line and the other one has 6 weight forward sinking line. I use a twisted butt into a 6# tippett. Going to go rent a boat this weekend at Hodges Gardens to where I can cast. Too many darn trees around here.

I like a 10 lbs leader for bass but I use a 6 lbs for bream, it makes it land so naturally it barely makes a ripple and the bigger ones generally get spooked with it "plopping" onto the water

Been fly fishing since a small child its been a family sport since my great grand father did it with an old bambo pole. Aint nothin' quite like a bass busting a popper especially if he comes running from a few feet away builds up a head of steam and hits it hard. My go to bass bug that I can remember daddy using 50 years ago is a hulla popper. They hard to get now but ya can still find them they come in colors but my favorite is the leapord frog color. Soon as the water goles down and clears up a lil I'll take some [pictures with one tied on. for me its a wf7f wit 12 lb leader. and no knot eye ya push into the line.

Cappy I used those no knots till I stuck my finger too many times...haha...now good ole nail knot...I couldn't catch a decent bass till a guy I know told me to get a chartrusse #6 bug....Well I caught so many I couldn't afford to keep replacing them so I started making my own...Besides accordo's is out of buisness now...Once you start catching on home made poppers its addictive....I threw away every store bought I had....Where I fish its full of lil silver minnows and I use glitter silver finger nail polish to make my poppers and the perch and bass can't resist....My bass bugs are actually made from a vosie, a fly fishers float....

I still use them cause for me its always been one and done. They last as long as the line does. They were the main reason I bought my first multi tool though.
