Unless things have changed, its been hit or miss out there for a few years now. We used to do good out there when I was a kid, but that was back before Rita. Most guys I talked to that fished back there were either after catfish or kayak fishing for reds.

Spent a couple weeks out there in summer of 2012 and 2013, probably saw one boat fishing the entire time.

For what its worth, all we ever used when I was a kid was Beetlespins. Caught bass, bream, goggle eye. I used to see people fishing off the bank at those areas all the time though. I'm sure its like anywhere else that people bank fish a lot.

I launched and fished back off of Lincoln Rd a couple of months back, water looked bad, fished for a bit with nothing ... May be better now ???

Looks like it would be a good spot

I've fished those areas many times and like they said its kinda hit or miss. Caught bass at the one on Nelson in a little bit deeper water but that was about it. At the other two bayous we've caught reds on a silver spoon with a curl trailer tail and bass on white beetle spins but nothing consistent. Usually fish it in my kayak, but sometimes I go out there in my smaller jon boat. Like you it's the closest water to me. Hope that helps.

When a big rain would come and flood the bayou would fill up the ditches by my pawpaws on friesen rd. we would fish in the ditch across from our road and on the side of friesen. Have filled up many wash tubs with nice bass in that ditch.
