2015 GMC Sierra?

Haters gonna hate. Love my 2014 GMC All Terrain. 100 times better than my $60k POS 2012 F250 that was in the shop 5 times before 50k miles. Like someone stated earlier, all the new diesels have issues. If i was going buy another half ton today it would be between GMC/Chevy or Ford. Both good trucks. Both have their issues. I'm not gonna spend $45k on a Toyota that looks like a "little boy's" truck and gets 12 mph. And my wifes Durango which is exact same as Alpha's will be the last Dodge I ever buy!

I've got 2 - 2014's half ton GmC's and like them a lot. One with 5.3 and the other with the 6.2. It is leaps and bounds better than my 2008 GMC. And my 2008 GMC was much better than my 2005 F150. Point here is: when comparing trucks, I find it's better to compare the same year models because every new vehicle I get seems better than all the previous 17 I've owned. Whether anyone want to adit it, most the trucks out there are great. It comes down to personel preference.

The new GM midsize trucks will have the 4 cyl diesel starting with next years model, but they are going to be really expensive for a midsize

Yeah that 2.8L Duramax will be sweet for sure. That's the engine they've been using in the S-10 in South America for many years now. It has me thinking. Sure wish GM would have opted for a 3.0L V6 diesel however. My name would already be on the waiting list.

How much power would one of those small diesels have in comparison to a gas engine of a similar size?

Might have been someone else on here but I thought u were having problems with your Durango? I've owned Chevy, gmc, Toyota, and now a Ford. The truck I'm driving now is by far the best truck I've ever owned. My '06 gmc was by far the worst truck EVER. Can't see myself ever spending money on government motors again. My yota was a decent truck but not comparable to my ford. I was always a Chevy/GM Man until my last GM. Also can't we myself vying a dodge. My father n law bought a new dodge and has had no problems what so ever. Nice truck. But I bought my ford used(2 years old) and my interior is imaculate compared to his. His interior is already coming apart. There's really no comparison in the new trucks. Ford is light years ahead. Wayyyy more cab room also. There's a reason f150 has been best selling truck for last 43 years.

Aubrey, I may be wrong but I remember something like 180hp and 369 ft lbs. Not sure if official specs are out yet.

With diesels, it's not so much about power, as it is about torque. Diesels have gobs of it. My wife had a little Jetta diesel with 100 hp, but it felt alot more like 170-180 hp. Straight off the line, a diesel will probably outgun a gas engine of equal size. But the real difference comes in towing ability. Diesels have come a long way...no more smell and no more smoke.

How does horsepower is the question.

18 wheelers are only 350-550HP on average, but have gobs and gobs of torque for moving loads and keeping them moving at much lower RPMs

Torque is what it takes to get something moving... Horsepower is just Torque over a period of time.

As I have stated in the past, I love the Tundra's! My best friend goes through Bowtie's and blue eggs faster than I can blink. I do like the new Dodge's, but the Toyota reliability has me hooked.

The new Toyota Pro edition is pretty sweet and just won the Baja 1000:

That TOYOTA resale Value tho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my truck is an 08 Tacoma with 120k miles... Bank wanted me to refinance it a couple months back. Looked up the loan value on it for me. 21k! Compare that to any GM, Ford or Dodge truck of same year and mileage...
