What are yall calling deep water? 2ft?3ft? Deeper? The marsh I hunt is mid thigh and deeper in some spots, doesn't keep the ducks from coming in or rafting up in deeper than that either.

Ain't no ducks in the marsh.. But if there is no viable reason for those air cannons going off during teal season, or whenever. Would you have a leg to stand on saying that this is harassing wildlife and get it stopped? Then again, if your farmer you sublease from is in control of this, I guess it wouldn't go well the next season when you try to lease from him again if you were calling the law on him? I have no idea how this works, never even heard or saw a "pop gun" just aksin.

I get to hear carbide guns at two locations that I tryyyyy to hunt geese. They usually start in December. I love to eat crawfish on New Year's as well, so people are crawfishing around then. The area's I cite for the carbide guns are Lyon's point and Midland. The last two years one of our better hunting spots was set for crawfishing (White Lake area). The goose hunting has been shameful and the duck hunting has been spotty at best.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't goose poop drastically alter the ph of the water. If it does I can see why farmers set carbide guns during duck/goose season even if they are not planning crawfishing at that time.

Two reasons for carbide guns:
1. Ducks and geese eat/smash the straw in the fields that the crawfish use to survive.
2. If geese get in a field that has been plowed, leveled, etc to plant a crop in the spring they will smash the mud and pack the ground. This requires the land to be drained and reworked costing the farmer fuel and time that they don't often times don't have in the spring.

This ^^^^^^

Hard to raise and harvest crawfish all the way to May, when their only food source is destroyed in Nov, Dec, or Jan.
