FlagUS Top water bait hooking string

Has anyone else having problems with top water bait hooking braid line ?
String normally gets tangles on front treble hook. Any tricks to avoid this problem?

It happens sometimes. I don't have much of a problem with it though.

A stiffer mono or flouro leader helps.

chapstick on 6"-8" of line stops from sinking and helps with that.

I tried the leader thing once. First nice red I lost a brand new tw bait. Guess my old eyes trying to tie a new knot didn't work too well. Went back to no leader.

Why use a floro leader (a sinking line) on a Floating Bait?? Doesn't make much sense on a topwater bait and you lose most of the reasoning you have Braid in the First place! (Durability/Break strength)

Practice the way you cast and the way you walk your dog. I use topwater tied to braid 90% of the time I'm fishing and do not see this issue. Try smoother casting so that your bait flies through the air without flipping around. It can also be caused by how hard you are walking the dog. If you do smooth and soft twitches, I do not see how you will continue having this issue.

Good Luck

Stop your cast just before the lure hits the water. that way the lure lays out away from the line.
