Wow what a day... so head out before the butt crack of dawn...stop at dagos to ice and shrimp up and jump on the road headed to the point. That's when things get weird.

Heading down the hiway, got a truck behind me, next thing i know they blow by me like i was stopped...pulling a boat! Jez, keep on truckin, left at weeks island heading to da pernt, road is dark. Daylight rounds the bend. Fool with LED lights burning bright. we close the gap, im looking at the edge of the road, bam! Rear view mirror explodes. pull over flashers on. dude pulls over behind us 1/4 mile back briefly then takes off. Figures he is turning around. Lucky it was only the mirror.

See light coming and end up being buddys friends. Ask them if they seen a truck turning around...nope... Waited another 15 min then jump in the truck and head to the landing.

Round the point headed towards Ivanhoe canal and see a deer in the water heading offshore! Spin round, take a few pics, get em headed back to land.

Started hitting spots for reds, they were slow all day. Caught a bunch of rats but took home 3 reds, 1 flounder, and 1 cat.

Made it home without incident...

Those lights are dangerous. I had them on my other truck but took them off for that reason. Cool shot of the deer swimming....lots of deer in the marsh. Used to hunt it years ago. Don't miss the skeeters the size of baseballs thats fo sho. May have been a slow but that would make a bunch of fish tacos. We spoiled in louisiana....

Sucks about the mirror. Last year I was parked at the quintana landing. Got back from fishing and my side mirror was all busted out. Evidently someone got too close with their guide pipes on their trailer and sideswiped my mirror. pretty expensive fix, since it had the defrost and blinker in it too.

yikes.. if you have a low deductible you may want to make a claim. Especially if you have turn signal, defrost, and the dimmer on that mirror. Had someone smash one where I work and it was about $800 for the mirror/ no labor.

Don't feel bad though, I had someone smash the entire side of my truck while there once. They hit my truck so hard they moved it about 4" to the side. Didn't leave a note or anything

Heated mirror glass is only $40. No biggie.

Fishing looks like it is becoming a contact sport!
