Which type of kayak?

Which type of kayak would be best for fishin, a sit in or a sit on top of kayak? Looking to fish both fresh and saltwater if that makes a difference.

Virginia has nonrestrictions on them unless they have some sort of motor so. Looking in the 10-12 foot range.

Dont go with anything less than 12'..... best investment will be a good seat. how much are you willing to spend?? usually that determines what you will be looking at.

Not more than I make lol. Uh 250-400$ range I guess. I'm trying to save up enough to come out alright when/if I do buy one. Found a couple on CL that look decent.

not much more to an ocean kayak than that... and thats half the price. you could prolly search online for a seat that would fit better than what is pictured... or even modify a cushion. That plastic is unpleasant to sit on!!!

That is a very good brand and model. It looks to be a few years old, but if it is in good shape I'd say make an offer of about $300. You can get the twin of that kayak brand new at academy for $499 (Pescador brand but it is the same mold)

I would stick with the sit on models. 400-600 will get you a very good used yak. I would stray from the pelican. Its not comfy, wet arse and not stable. Thats my experience with it any way.

+1 on nothing less than 12'... I learned this the hard way... Also, I would suggest a sit on top for fishing (also found this out after the fact)... buy what you need now so you are not upgrading kayaks later... if length is an issue for hauling, look into a bed extender if you have a truck... harbor freight has one that works great and is pretty inexpensive... ask questions, check reviews on forums, demo if you can and narrow down the best you can about the characteristics most important to you in a kayak... this is important, cause there isnt a perfect yak (at least I havent found it yet)... IMO
