I've been considering getting a kayak. I have fished in one once and loved it. It was a redfish 14. I need a big one since I am 6 foot and 280 lbs. I would like to find a used one. Where is a good place to look for used yaks or even new ones at good prices.

Check out the yaks made by Wilderness Systems. They've got ones for big guys like you and I. I used to have a Tarpon 160 several years back and loved it.

If I would get another yak. It would be the wilderness systems Ride 135. I Paddled one at a demo day that the backpaker had. it was nice. tracked well and was a breeze to paddle. Im not a small guy and it handled well. easy to get up and stand up in

i have a ride 135 on yak's suggestion and love it im 6' and around 225 and can stand on it in whiskey ****to moving. tracks great i love it.....i found mine on some website im not at my computer its the lafayette kayak club i cant remember....yak can help you. my only suggestion is be patient and find the one you want

This year I bought a Hobbie Revolution with the mirage drive pedal system and the difference in having your hands free is priceless. I still have my original kayak Emotion Kayak "The Fisherman" 13.5' but 80% of the time I take the Hobbie. When I take my wife with me she will only use the pedal system Hobbie and very seldom picks up the paddle. They are a bit expensive compared to other yaks, I got lucky and bought one used for about half the new price. If your using in salt water definately get a stable yak 12'-14' with enough rear storage for ice chest and tackle.

You may squeeze into a hobie outback. I would definitely try this one out.

If you got the money to drop the Hobie Pro Angler is AWESOME!! I got to check one out personally and wish I had the money for it!!

For your build I would look at the Malibu x factor, Malibu Stealth 14, or Ocean Big Game. As for the Hobies, where I fish they are useless as most of the time the drive has to be pulled up and then its in the way. Also look at the weight on the Pro Angler. Almost 100lbs with nothing in it.

Yep I don't think the pro angler would be good for me because I want to fish the lacassine pool alot with it and the drive would not work in there with the grass and the shallow water.

That jackson coosa looks awesome,only problem is there is no dealers in la yet. You can stand up in them easily and it is a true sit on top.
