Default Big Lake Kayak Launches (East Side)

Besides Hebert's & Crab Lady is there any other place that you can launch a kayak to have access to the east side of the lake south of Commissary Point?

Crab Lady landing has been closed for many years and is private property.

Launching at Fred's is an option. This is about a 1/2 mile south of the IWCC on Big Lake road.

The front launch is private but there is a section on the backside of the old metal cover that is owned by the parish and you can launch there. You just have to dump off into the canal, not hard at all. In the past before kayaking got REAL popular the rule there was that if the chain was across the launch then you could not launch but if the chain was down then they didn't mind if you launched. BUT like all good things it turned into a huge parking lot with the amount of people there and that got shutdown.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I was hoping to get down to the lake this weekend but I looked at the satellite imagery and it looks like someone poured Nesquick in the lake. I'll have to stay in freshwater this week.

No access on the east side south of hebert’s, unless you have a lease with Miami...and unless you count Cameron launch.
