Default Need Help 40 Tohatsu TLDI

Fellas, I have a 2012 40hp Tohatsu TLDI motor that the trim motor quit working. I took the trim motor off, cleaned the brushes and armature and installed it back. I bled the air out and trimmed up and down until I drained the battery. It worked fine but wasn't as smooth going up and down as it used to be. I let the boat sit up for about a month and went out on the water this past weekend. I Trimmed it up to remove the transom saver, launched the boat and trimmed down to take off. After that, the trim motor quit working again. The replacement cost for the trim motor at Lake Area Marine is $538. Before I spend money I really can't afford to spend, I was hoping to get some feed back on if anyone else has had a similar problem and if so, what was the best fix?

Different motor, but I just got mine out of shop. Rubber o'ring around each ram was leaking. $200 repair, parts and labor.

Live with out the power trim until you can afford a new one. There is a screw on the left side of the trim bracket that will release the hydraulics

Thanks Netmkr, didn't even think about Amazon. REALLY liking that price!!!Ahab, that is how I have it right now but boat doesn't perform as well. Need to trim up for additional speed and shallow water situations. SwampSnorkler, that is for the electric trim motor only. I didn't ask the price for installation because I can easily do it myself.
