There was a guy that used to shoot matches with a club I was in and he shot himself through the calve while holstering his Glock. Granted it was operator error that caused the incident not the gun or holster. It didn't happen at our match it happened while he was at work. LE and shooting a qualification course.

I and probably 90% of the population aren't as skilled as you are. If I'm wrestling with a drunken idiot, dodging his muzzle, all while trying to draw my own weapon, I don't want to be fumbling with a safety.

Valid point. I wasn't trying to say you were wrong at all. My primary carry weapons are a Glock and a XD. I do enjoy carrying my 1911 but it's way too hot right now to be packing that piece of iron.lol

I'm pretty sure there are people on this site that are much better than me. I shot a 1911 with a 10 mag for competiton. What's called limited 10 class. You shoot in a group with someone shooting an open class gun that knows how to shoot and it's belittling. Even though you are shooting together you aren't competing against each other. Different weapon class. It still sucks when he does it in half your time. He's running a full blown race gun. Comped 38 super with a red dot and 29 rounds of ammo in his mag. I'm running my 1911 which has a lot of work but only 10 rnd mags and iron sights. I can't beat him if he knows how to shoot. Damn it is fun to watch though. It would be like you drag racing a top fuel drag car wiith your truck.

Ive watched this a few times. Stupidity. Good on both officers to bring him outside so something like this didn't happen inside

Personally I feel safer handling(drawing and holstering) my glock than my 1911 cocked and locked. Just something about looking at the hammer in the cocked position.

Actually a glock has 3 safeties although all are internal. The glock will not fire unless the trigger is fully depressed. Naturally, like with any firearm, accidents do happen.

Cocked locked and ready to rock. When at a match the only time you could have a loaded gun was when it was your turn to shoot. I had a 2lb triggrt pull on the 1911 then. That trigger was sweet.

I bet it was!!! The 1911 are really fun at the range but like you said earlier, I prefer to carry one of my glocks. Got a glock 43 about 6 weeks ago and have carried it everyday since. It's surprisingly accurate at the range as well as being small and light for a 9mm.

That video is funny. I always laugh at people who will only carry a .45 because "it's got more stopping power" but they can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. They sound so ignant.

A lot of people have the spray and pray way of thinking. 45 recoil is very smooth and easy to comtrol. My wife's carry gun is a Khar in 45acp and she shoots it quite well. Recoil perception does vary from person to person. If it's not fun and comfortable to shoot then a new weapon is a must. Practice makes perfect and people won't practice with a gun that intimidates them. S .22 hollowpoint in the eye works just as well as a .45
