Default Home Orchard

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now. I have a decent sized front yard that is wide open. I might as well put it to work making fruit. My kids absolutely love fruit and it gets expensive buying it multiple times a week. Hopefully within the next few years, they can walk in the front yard and pick all they want. This is what I have so far:

Celeste fig
Brown turkey fig
2 - loquat plum
2 - satsuma (1 owari and 1 LA satsuma)
2 - sweet kumquat
Blood orange
Improved Myers lemon
Persian lime

I'm planning on adding 1 Anna apple and 1 golden Dorset apple in front of the barn for Lil Man. The wife also wants a peach and a nectarine.

I would suggest you add a Mandarin [or 2]. I believe they are a cross between Satsuma and Tangerine. They peel really easy and have a lot of flavor.

Also you might add a grapefruit.

Down the road a few years.... recommend you get a Juicer, if you children are not eating everything that is produced. In 5 years that lemon tree should produce 200+ lemons.

I juice my lemons [and other fruit] and freeze the juice in water bottles. Don't throw away the lemon rind.....I grind in up in a food processor and freeze it in zip-lock bags. I use it when boiling seafood; Shrimp, crabs or crawfish. I like lots of lemon flavor when I boil seafood.

Man that's awesome! I can't wait until my little sticks get to that point!

I thought about a grapefruit, but none of us in the house are a big fan of them. We would probably end up giving them away.
