are you set on a new boat? for 30 or less you can find a really good used rig of a higher tier boat.

Pros:
Reputable manufacturer
Rides good
Dry
capable offshore
Good on fuel
speckle paint inside washes easy
New/under warranty
F150 yamaha one of the best engines ever built
Local dealership for service

Cons:
New/expensive
speckle paint inside looks cheaper
thinner hull than some custom manu.
150 4 stroke is flirting with being underpowered but probably isn't
some blazers have those handrails on the gunwales that get in the way

If the high fuel prices hold into the fall you can probably find one a year or two old for 10K cheaper (or even if they don't really)

just tossing those ideas out, everyone has different ones.

The 2170 will be underpowered with a 150. See if you're dealer can make you a deal on the 200 HPDI. You won't regret it.

I've got a 2006 2220 Fisherman and absolutely love it. Sometimes I wish it would get into skinnier water, but it is what it is. Tournament load we run 55 and draft 12". Ride is smooth and dry unless of course you're crossing Lake Catherine cross waves with solid 3 footers running 50. tends to get a lil wet then

Please don't finance a boat for 15 years. If you need to finance it wait until you can pay a 3 yr note so you actually have it paid off when it is still worth something.

i hear the f150s dyno out to 162? and upgrading to 175 isn't worth it
on that boat..it'll do 50

in the 18-21 ft. boat size....a 150 4stroke yamaha or 150 2stroke e-tec is the way to go

Buddy just bought the 21 Kenner on here. Don't box yourself into a corner with a 15 yr note and under powered boat( no pun intended). Many used boats powered right in your budget and credit unions are throwing money to folks with good credik.

Just stash some cash for a few years and get a used one cash money.......I would never finance a boat unless it was crazy high like an offshore boat

You won't be under powered with a 150. If you are looking for speed then yes it will be, but if looking for fuel economy it is plenty of engine.

I have a 21ft nautic star with 150 yam. four stroke and is plenty of motor. Running 3800 to 4000 rpms is around 33-35 mph cruising speed, and in return i'm averaging 4 to 4.25 mpg. Hey but what do i know, according to half the people on the site if you don't own a haynie, then your a no fishing idiot.
