Default Book Suggestions?

Several years ago we had a thread about book suggestions for fishermen and conservationists like ourselves. I don't read alot, but I never pass up a good book about fishing or Louisiana history. I'm ready for a new book. Any suggestions?

Last time someone on here suggested "Plugger," the book about Texas fishing legend Rudy Grigar. I loved it and shared it with my fishing buddies who can read (that disqualifies a few of them). I also highly recommend "Bayou Farewell," which is about coastal erosion and the corresponding loss of our culture in coastal Louisiana. Another good book is "Rising Tide." It's about the great flood of 1927 and it's impact on the decision to levee off the Mississipi River. This decision, of course, has led to the tremendous coastal erosion problems that we have today.

Please share any books that would follow along these lines.

Bayou farewell is great. Some of my favorite conservation or outdoor minded books are "River Monsters", A Sand County Almanac, and just about anything David Quammen, although he is way more science than conservation. If you like alligator gar, Season of the gar is a good one also. As far as Louisiana goes, there are two books by Gay Gomez, Louisiana geography professor at McNeese, on the geography and culture of the chenier plain. Both really great books, I highly recommend them. Dr. Gomez knows her stuff.

You've gotta read Humberto Fontova's books, Hell Divers Rodeo and Hell Pig Hunt. He is an acquired taste to some. I like him. He does go overboard sometimes but this part of what I enjoy about his writing.

This is not about Louisiana, but I just finished a book called Lone Survivor, by Marcus Luttrell, a Navy Seal. His story is simply amazing.
