Default Becareful!

Anyone planning to use the calcasieu/west fork river, becareful up and down the river is duck weed, and with these HUGE weed mats are hidden debris. I even went slow thru the groups of duck weed, and still hit stuff.

Just giving yall a heads up

I drove over the West fork bridge last week.....man that duck weed was thick.

I bet that makes it tuff to fish there. Even the main river on hwy 171 had a good bit of duck weed.

Fool.....duck weed can plug up the thermostat on an outboard. You may want to look into pulling the thermostat to check it.

The thermostat is lockated near the sparkplugs up on top of the engine. Should have 4 bolts the hold the cover plate. Loosen all 4 bolts before you take them out.....there is a spring pushing on the cover plate. Be careful....there is also a gasket there that you don't want to tear the gasket. Clean any trash and put it back in.

The Mermentau river above Lake Arthur is full of duck weed also, with stumps, lumps and chunks of wood all mixed in it too.
