Default Weekend at Camp

Went to the camp for a spring cleaning and to check on everything. Worked around the property doing some deer stand maintenance. Checked the cameras and had a new buck show up in December. Also had our first hog ever caught on camera...not excited about that. He is huge too. I have heard once you see the first, there are hundreds that follow. We will have to wait and see.

Also killed a cotton mouth that my buddy almost stepped on while repairing some fencing that was damaged in the recent storm.

All in all a great weekend. Can't wait for October!

Yep, get ready for the hogs. We never had a problem with them til a few years ago. Now they're everywhere! Nice buck, hopefully he's still around!

Longsidelandry,

When the hogs started showing up, was there anything you could do to keep them from taking over? We were thinking about stop feeding corn in hopes that they would go somewhere else for food.

Also, did you see the hogs affect your deer hunting any?

I have some land I hunt on the river here and 10 yrs ago I saw deer every trip then I started seeing hog sign then I seen some hogs... I forgot to mention I have not seen a deer in close to 8 yrs there. Hogs are gonna find food even if they have to tear everything up to do that so as for stopping your feeders I think you would be farting in the wind but you may start trapping and have guys with hog dogs try to keep the hog heard thinned out

We get a picture every now & then of hogs, like one or two a year, just seems they are just passing through. Been that way for years. If you're keeping corn on the ground they will take up residence.
