Tete, teal season is by far my favorite. Here is my 2 pennies on the drought effect. When we have a ton of rain and water everywhere, the bird hit pastures and spread out. When we have conditions like this, the birds find little pot holes, or flooded cuts but the "area" doesn't hold as many birds. If you are the only farm in 5 miles to have a "cut" flooded, after those first few shots, those birds are moving out. Then you have to wait, and hope! We will have birds, it just might not be as fast as years past.

I always thought so but now I don't know, we've had water since January and we have no teal.

Where about in morse? That's where we have a few blinds and I been running around checking all the fields almost everyday and haven't saw anything. 2 blinds just getting water but 1 been having for about a week or so. Nothing in them.

Teal fly 30mph. so when people start going to blinds in the fields and running in the marsh them teal will be spreading everywhere in an hour or 2. PATIENCE

I feel exactly. It's almost a sense of happiness not to see them "holding" in our areas. When gunfire rings out..."here dey come"

I've called just about every one I knew today. The reports seem to be very spotty. My dads lease has held a enormous about of teal the last 3 years and not one bird was spotted today. This is probably my favorite time of year with football season just starting and the smell of gun powder in air. The tigers haven't disappointed us yet so let's hope the teal won't either.
