I just weighed in yesterday for the first time in a couple months and the first two numbers were 27* for the first time ever. I guess I need to revise my long-term weight loss goal to 50lb.

So, how many people are going to join the challenge? We need at least 6-8 to make it worthwhile.

Also, what diet is everyone doing? I think my wife and I are going to try South Beach this time. I've done Atkins a few times in the past, but I think South Beach will be easier to maintain longer term. I can handle Atkins for about a month or even two, but I simply can't go without some of the foods I love permanently. I lost around 30lb in 1.5 months on Atkins last time I did it, but it all came back within 6 months of going back to my bad eating habits.

I'm still working on my new year's resolution from last year. Lost 50 lbs. in 2010 from 245 to 195. The Holidays were a bad thing for me, but I'm hittin it again. Still tryin for 10 more to lose and I'll be back to my playing weight in high school and college.

My parents have been on a diet now for a couple of months with pretty good success. U can eat whatever u want as long as u keep it under 2000 calories and they some kind of drops everyday and exercise 3 nights a week. Mom has lost almost 50 lbs and dad 45. They have turned it into a competition and both seem much happier. I will post information about the drops if anyone would like it. All I k.ow is that its a hormone pc some kind to speed up metabolism

i found an app for the iphone that seems like it could be very helpful. It is called my fitness pal. It has a diary for your workouts and what you eat. If you enter your stats it tells you how many calories you need to intake and how much exercise you need to do to achieve your goals. The best part of all is that the app is free!

I'm in for a lil competition. I'm weighing in at 240 now and would like to get down to about 190. I graduated high school weighing 180 so I'd be happy at 190 or 200.

I'm in. 260 as of yesterday and want to lose 60 this year. 5 month. I've done it before with Atkins and exercise. Been enjoying blackened spec tacos lately. Just need to get me some low carb tortillas, bubble yum Jerk jrs, and I'm good.

OK, I think we have enough people to make this a competition. How about weigh-ins on Monday? Post up your weight by the end of the day each Monday, and I'll track it in a spreadsheet so we can compare our efforts to others. It's good motivation.

Everyone, if you are participating (and you didn't post up yesterday), please post up your starting weight so I can get you added.

If it's not too late to get in with the group, I'll give it a shot. 271 lbs. today. I would like to lose about 60-70 lbs. 200-210 would help me to live a little longer and play with the grand kids longer too.

Guys, I found a really cool website for tracking your diet progress, and monitoring how others in our group are doing. Go to fatsecret.com and sign up for a free account, then post up with your username and I'll add you to the SaltyCajun.com group. I've been clicking around in there, and there is a lot of good stuff to help with a diet. You even select the type of diet you're following so others in the group can see which diets are working best, etc. Make sure to enter your correct (as of yesterday or today) starting weight so we are all starting at the same time. Every Monday we'll have our weigh-in, and we can see how well each other are doing. It'll also save me a lot of time working on a spreadsheet.
