Default Mike, Josh, & the hookers

I had an inshore trip, for Super Strike Charters, with Mike Pittman and 3 others. We were to meet at 6:00 but never got together till about 6:30. Not a good start. This kid finds me and said. Hi, I'm Mike, this is Josh, and these are some hookers we brought along". His buddy Josh and his girl friend have been together 4 years and are engaged but that set the tone for the day.

The fishing is settling into the summer time mode now that the river is dropping. The trout are on the outside and the redfish are all over the marsh. Once at our first place I get them set up and the first fish caught is a large gaff top catfish. After a few more of them I move to a point and our day starts.

This was the first of way too many we nailed. Our box was not getting anything in it at all. Finally a pair of fish find the box.

The pick of fish to come home with us was very slow because we could not get past the hogs.

It was flat calm and very hot but they kept fighting the fish as fast as they could cast out.

She landed it but it also went back after the photo.

As they were fishing I look out and see something that looks like a few trout feeding. I cast out and get a hit that is trout but miss it. My second cast puts a 15 inch trout in the box. We manage another pair and then things change again. I even get into the act.

When it is flat calm and very hot you get a chance to look around and enjoy the beautiful wonders of the Louisiana marsh.

It was so hot we had to go for a ride in circles in open water just to cool off. One of them started to get over heated even though she was drinking a lot and using a wet towel. With the box still slim I ran across the pond and trolled around an island and found some nice fish for the box.

Every body got into the act and before this area ended we had 13 in the box. No where near our limit of 20 reds but at least we were not getting worn out fighting big bulls. Turned on the AC again and ran to another island. Saw some semblance of water moving and picked up another pair.

At the top of the tide all was dead and we decided to go back and fight another bull or two. This would put us into an area that the tide should start running sooner giving us a chance at getting our limit of slot reds for the table. After getting some more very large reds the water started moving well and I went to a point near where we started. We found the fish getting active and it was game on. Some trout and good reds were giving us a lot of action. We called it with this nice double.

The heat drove us in and the big fish wore us out. We left them biting. With all the ball busting and jokes going on all day it was a very enjoyable trip with 4 happy people.

A limit of table reds and 9 trout.

I was fishing out of Venice on the east side. All the ponds are getting into the summer mode.
