Not even just so much spicers as the whole west side of big lake. from there to west cove i guess. Is there good marsh for reds? or reefs close enough to kayak to?

Kelso has some excellent fishing and all very close to spicers.

Do y'all just fish in and around the canal or actually go into the cove? Just looks like a pretty good paddle in a KC If I made it to WC are there reefs close to the mouth of the canal?
I also see what looks maybe a road that follows the canal quite a ways. Can you go down or launch right from 27?

Thanks!

You should be able to catch all you want within a half mile of spicers. Fish the marshes off Kelso both west and east of spicers. I fish that area fairly often and catch reds, flounder and specks. If you want to fish west cove area, launch down there. That's a long ways from spicers. If the road you're talking about is on the south side of the lake, that is a private apache oil road. Do not go in there. That's a trip to jail

Reefs from the launch are a good 1.5-2 miles from launch. You can start fishing as soon as you get out of crab trap land though. Reds, flounder, and sometimes trout can be caught in the marsh and canal.

No access to road.

X marks spicers. Red dots marks fishing spots and access points into marshes.

Glad to help. I catch a lot of fish in that area. Keep in mind the dots aren't exact but when you get there, you'll see where to go. Just leave a few for me.

Not on the west side but you could drop one in at spicers with no problem.

i worked there for 3 years and i launch there alot and catch reds and flounder and in fall ill catch specks and ill launch down devall road when i fish a set of lights right next to the launch. If yall launch at spicers just tell them that patrick told you to. And also the current on kelso can get wicked when the waters rollin out

Patt is very correct about the current at Spicers, go past spicers, turn right at the bank on corner of devall road and 27, launch is at deadend. $3.00 launch fee, but you will be satisfied with the area, marsh, salt ditch, oil field, plenty drains.

It's an easy place to Learn and the boat traffic can get heavy but there's a lot of places to get out of it and catch fish
